The Mercer Museum’s annual holiday exhibit captures the excitement of Christmas from a child’s point of view. The exhibit features trees decorated to the tastes of earlier eras, together with some of the toys and games that once delighted children on Christmas morning’s past. The display draws from the Mercer Museum’s holdings and local private collections, and includes popular playthings from the Victorian Era through the 1980s. Featured toys on display include dolls, classic wooden toys, various tin wind-ups, banks, circus toys, vintage board games and more. See an original 1950’s era “Robby the Robot” mechanical toy, a 1960’s era Premier Easy-Bake Oven and a 1980’s Cabbage Patch Doll. Visitors can play with oversize versions of classic games like Checkers, Connect Four, Snakes and Ladders and oversize playing cards. The exhibit is included with museum admission.
