Annual Celebration Since 1976. Fayetteville, Texas will celebrate its German-Czech heritage. Musical headliners this year are Black Cat Choir. This family friendly festival will offer something for young and old including kids’ activities, ice-cold drinks, food, baked goods, arts and crafts, silly contests, an onsite/online auction, and raffles. Saturday morning, join the Painted Fun Run Walk for an invigorating 5K. Saturday SPJST Hall will host their BBQ and Bean Cook-Off, horseshoe tournament, and live music. Saturday, stroll around the square, see what the vendors have to offer, let the kiddies enjoy the Kids Activity Area, get an autograph or your photo taken with a Texan Cheerleaders (or splurge and do both)! Saturday evening it will be time to put on your dancing boots for the street dance to until midnight. Start purchasing those raffle tickets! Sunday, all the festivities continue along with the ever-popular Lickskillet Days Parade featuring unique floats, trail-riders, antique cars, and local charm. Then, enjoy a fried chicken main meal with all the trimmings. Shop the vendors and stay to see if you won any of the raffle items! Over the years, German and Czech immigrants called this small community home, naming and renaming it many times. At one time, Fayetteville was named Lick Skillet.
