As the only institution of its kind, the Pember Museum of Natural History and Preserve offers lectures, field trips, environmental studies, tours, hikes, day camps, outreach and many other special programs. The museum has a private collection from its founder, Franklin Pember, dating from 1862-1924, 2,000 birds, 500 mammals, 860 egg sets and nests, 2,000 insects, 1,500 herbarium mounts, rocks, minerals, fossils, and mollusk shells.
