The museum features permanent exhibits of Southwest Indian artifacts, historic photographs, a replica of a 1900-era general store, an old-time parlor, and a "Life on the Mesas" exhibit that includes maps, photos, literature and artifacts. Attached to the museum is an original, authentically furnished 1890s log cabin. The reference library contains family histories and genealogies, obituaries, oral history tapes, and school yearbooks. One section of the museum is used for temporary exhibits such as special collections. The museum bookstore sells books about the history of the area. Some were written by local authors and others by writers from around Western Colorado .
