The Orlando Fashion Square Christmas Parade has been CANCELED. The parade is being replaced with a 7 hour multi-cultural holiday street festival called the BankUnited ChristmasFest, Jingle Bell Dog Jog Presented by IOA Insurance and the PetSmart Tackiest Christmas Sweater Contest. Orlando's Historic District will come alive with holiday merriment on Saturday, December 19th to include holiday activities for the whole community during the BankUnited's ChristmasFEST. Downtown streets located on Central Blvd. and Court Avenue will be closed for a Multi-Cultural Street Festival with vendors, 15 song and dance performances, snow flurries and a special appearance by Santa, his elves and real reindeer from the North Pole. Super Heroes will be on site throughout the day for photos. If anyone is still waiting to give Santa Claus their wish list, he will arrive at 3pm in the City of Orlando Antique Fire Truck in conjunction with the 8th Annual Jingle Bell Dog Jog to benefit Canine Companions for Independence. This free street festival will not include the Orlando Christmas Parade this year. Toys will be collected all day at BankUnited on Central Blvd. to benefit local families in the area to be distributed by radio station XL106.7FM and their Baby DJ Toy Drive staff.
