The Gulf Coast has a long rich history of waterfowling and yet there’s not a celebration of the sport that enriches so many peoples lives. It’s time to change that and start a tradition and spread the lure and love of our sport. The Gulf Coast Waterfowl Festival and Expo is a first time event that has been long in coming and is finally a reality. The Expo is a must see for the bird hunter, they can see, touch and buy the latest gear, meet the top hunting guides, dog trainers, call makers, taxidermist or find a lease. There will be two days of seminars including the Texas Parks and Wildlife Dept., US Fish and Wildlife Dept., Ducks Unlimited, Delta Waterfowl, Duck and Goose calling, Retriever Demos and Dog Training. The Festival will be a celebration of our heritage of waterfowling. There will be an art contest for school age children, a taxidermy contest, a best tasting pie and cake contest with the proceeds benefiting a local food bank. There will be a kid’s corner with a free rock climbing wall, moon walk and the Eddie V. Gray Wetlands Center’s “live touch tank”. The “World’s Largest Duck Call” will be on display. Door prizes will be given away both days in the Expo. There’s even the “Wild Goose Chase” giveaway and the Gulf Coast Waterfowl Festival and Expos “Guides Cup” fundraisers. Best of all you’ll be able to take a glimpse into the history of waterfowling along the Texas Coast with the vintage photo collage that will be on display.
