Celebrating its 31st anniversary, Dickens occurs on the first three Fridays in December. This year will feature the City of Roanoke Christmas Tree Lighting on Friday, December 6th from 5:30pm to 10pm, Haley Toyota's City of Roanoke Christmas Parade on Friday, December 13th from 6pm to 10pm, and the RVSPCA Pet Costume Contest on Friday, December 20th, from 6pm to 10pm. This free, family-friendly event happens annually in Downtown Roanoke and includes favorites like roasted chestnuts, carriage rides, street performers, and more! Haley Toyota's City of Roanoke Christmas Parade: Haley Toyota's City of Roanoke Christmas Parade is the largest in the region, including over 100 entries annually! You are sure to see some familiar faces as you line the streets from Jefferson Street and along Campbell Avenue during the parade, and be sure to stay for all of the fun after the parade ends! Roasted chestnuts, carolers, performances from local, regional, and national acts, and, of course, lots of shopping opportunities!
