Description:

this elegant three-story mansion was built in 1876 by Edward Steves, founder of the Steves Lumber Company. The ashlar limestone structure, which exhibits characteristics of the French Second Empire and Italian Villa styles, features a concave mansard roof with decorative iron cresting. Alfred Giles, prominent San Antonio architect, is thought to have been its designer.
