Since 1978. The Southern Arizona Blues Heritage Foundation has continued to bring live blues to Tucson for over 30 years, and this year our headliner, Eddy “the Chief” Clearwater, has just been awarded the 2015 Blues Blast Magazine Lifetime Achievement Award! Born in 1935, Eddy taught himself to play guitar by flipping it upside down so he could play left handed. He moved to Chicago in 1950 and his music continues to epitomize the power of the Chicago sound. He has recorded on labels including Blind Pig and Alligator Records, won the 2001 W. C. Handy Award for Male Artist of the Year, and has played with greats like Lonnie Brooks and Billy Branch.
