Harpers Ferry National Historic Park
Because of its strategic location at the confluence of the Shenandoah and Potomac rivers, this town changed hands many times during the Civil War. John Brown's raid took place here in 1859. The park encompasses portions of West Virginia, Virginia and Maryland.
