Since 1985, over 40 spectacular displays consisting of over a million colorful lights displayed throughout 300 rolling acres of the 6 mile drive. Businesses participate with decorations to add to the festive atmosphere. There are craft demonstrations, a laser light show and train exhibits as well. This is a free event, however donations are graciously accepted.

Since 1994, more than 1.5 million lights adorn Shannon Springs Park in sparkling displays that shine their reflections on a peaceful lake and also America's tallest Christmas tree.In 1992, what started out as a small group of local citizens with a dream to spark community spirit, became Festival of Light, Inc., a nationally recognized Christmas light display dedicated to long-term initiatives that enhance and improve quality each year. The pride and enthusiasm that the Festival of Light brings to the citizens of Chickasha is evident bringing about a spirit of community pride that transcends economic or social barriers. Virtually every citizen can enjoy and feel a part of this magnificent event.

Since 2002. The 15th annual Southern Lights Stroll will take place on Thursday, 11/17, as the kick-off event for the annual Southern Lights holiday festival, presented by Toyota Motor Manufacturing, Kentucky. As the only evening of Southern Lights when the public is allowed to experience a major portion of the lighted route on foot, visitors may choose to run, walk or stroll their way through thousands of dazzling holiday lights on the grounds of the Kentucky Horse Park. Three Way Racing will provide the chip timing for the competitive 5K race, and awards will be given to winners in various age categories. Additional activities include complimentary Mini Train Express rides, refreshments, prize drawings and more. A food drive for God’s Pantry Food Bank and a local animal shelter will be held in conjunction with this event. All participants are asked to bring non-perishable items to help local families and animals in need. Registration for the 5K race is $30 for adults and $15 for children ages 7-12. Registration for the stroll/walk is $25 for adults and $10 for children ages 7-12. There is no charge for children 6 and under. Online registration has concluded for this year's event. Walk-up registration begins at 5pm, and a limited number of t-shirts may be available, as well. The 5K race begins at 6:30 p.m., followed by the recreational walk/stroll at 6:35 p.m. Check-in is at the park’s Visitor Center. A limited number of t-shirts are available but are expected to be gone at some point prior to the race. Strollers, wagons and dogs on leash are welcome. All proceeds from the Southern Lights Stroll support the Kentucky Horse Park Foundation.

Since 1996, Drive on the Virginia Beach boardwalk! Take a shining journey into nautical, holiday, and adventure lands – all along the beautiful Virginia Beach boardwalk. Festive fish, jumping dolphins, frolicking porpoises – all in bright, colored lights against the clear night-time sky, are the stars of McDonald’s Holiday Lights at the Beach. They are joined by Santa, elves, and a 40-foot tall Christmas tree erected on the beach and in the beautiful parks along the Virginia Beach boardwalk. Over 25,000 families a year make this unique light show a part of their holiday celebration! This “Fanta-Sea” of lights is sure to dazzle and amaze holiday travelers visiting Virginia Beach. One of the highlights is the giant “12 Days of Christmas” display, where some fixtures stand 20 and 30 feet high! Drivers are able to tune their car radios to a frequency to hear holiday music along the McDonald’s Holiday Lights at the Beach display, making it easy to see AND hear why this event has been named one of the Southeast Tourism Society’s “Top 20 November Events” and the American Bus Association's "Top 100 Events in North America for 2011!" McDonald’s Holiday Lights at the Beach opens nightly beginning at 5:30. Hours of operation are 5:30pm-10:00pm Sunday through Thursday and 5:30pm-11:00pm Friday-Saturday.

Since 1971. The Boat Parade will stage on the New River in downtown Fort Lauderdale, along the docks west of Stranahan House to the Broward Center for the Performing Arts. The Parade travels East to the Intracoastal Waterway as it continues North to Lake Santa Barbara in Pompano Beach. It’s 12 Miles of the “Greatest Show on H20.” The parade takes approximately 2 and 1/2 hours to view from one location (starting locations stagger as you travel north – please look at the bridge closings on this website). Private boats to the giant showboats and corporate megayachts will be adorned with hundreds of thousands of lights, music, entertainment, decorations, celebrities, musical groups, beauty queens and many other exciting entries expected to be viewed by over one million spectators. Parade highlights: Grand Marshal Showboat, Galleria Mall Reindeer Barge and the Santa Showboat.

Since 1963, a fabulous yearly boating event set in Pompano Beach is the Holiday Boat Parade, the nation's oldest boat parade. Nearly 100 glittering yachts and smaller boats, decorated with lights and fantastic holiday themes, delight the thousands of people who watch from the shores of the Intracoastal Waterway beginning at Lake Santa Barbara in Pompano Beach north to Deerfield Beach. This boat parade is a special way of getting into the holiday spirit--South Florida style. Te\he event is free for boaters and spectators, but boaters MUST register their vessels ahead of time through the Greater Pompano Beach Chamber of Commerce.

Since 1962, Ring in the holidays with this Clear Lake tradition. More than 100,000 people traditionally enjoy this event from land and from hundreds of boats anchored throughout the Lake The parade features more than 100 brightly decorated power and sailboats that will traverse the Clear Lake channel from the South Shore Harbour Marina and the Nassau Bay Lagoon to Galveston Bay.

Newport News Park will be transformed by over 800,000 individual lights, creating animated holiday and fanciful scenes. New for 2016 are blooming cherry trees in the Peace Garden, Magical Trees that change colors, a penguin snowball fight, gingerbread people, new toys, and more animated snow tubes that create a snowfall effect. The event continues to refurbish old displays with energy efficient LED bulbs and add new display pieces. The event will be open each evening, 5:30 - 10:00 p.m., through January 1, 2017. Over 300 individual display pieces (70 animated), 43 arches, and three miles of rope lighting enhance the natural beauty of the two-mile drive along Newport News Park’s main road. All new display pieces added since 2007 use LED lights which result in a savings of approximately 30% on electrical cost compared to incandescent bulbs and last 100,000 hours verses 3,000 hours for incandescent. Older (pre 2007) display pieces are being refitted with LED lights.

Participants in this year’s highly anticipated holiday boat parade will adorn their boats to fit this year’s theme, “It Began with a Roar – San Diego Zoo Celebrates 100 Years.” The parade begins at Shelter Island and proceeds to Harbor Island, the Embarcadero, Seaport Village, The Pier at Cesar Chavez Park, and ends at the Ferry Landing in Coronado.
