Morocco. San Diego Children’s Discovery Museum is excited to present the SDCDM Roots Series as part of the Museum’s mission to celebrate and educate children and families about world cultures. Roots programs highlight the diverse cultural traditions of a community represented in San Diego County. This free program features cultural performances, crafts, costumes, and other activities to showcase the culture’s rich art and history. Entertainment – often by children performers – can include storytelling, music, dance or puppetry. During the program month, the Global Village and Marketplace exhibit is transformed to reflect the culture, along with books and costumes. Additionally, craft and storytime will carry the theme of the celebrated culture with a different book and craft each week of that month. Roots events are held on the third Saturday of alternating months from 2-4pm. Free admission begins at 1:45pm on the specified program date. The Museum’s hands-on educational exhibits focus on science, arts, and world cultures. SDCDM designs and fabricates their own exhibits with new exhibits added each month. New exhibits at the facility include Water Wise- Interactive and Living Water Tables, Children’s Discovery Garden, a Kids Global Village, Toddler Tide Pool, and Magnification Station.SDCDM was founded as a non- profit organization in 2001 as Escondido Children's Museum, with the focus of learning through play and inspiring children from newborn to age 10 to learn about our world through exploration, imagination, and experimentation.
