Description:

J.W. Hill, an orphan from Illinois, came to Eureka Springs in 1879 and soon started the Crescent Livery and Eureka Transfer Company, supplying horses for Hotels and Railroad . Mr. Hill attended the Chicago Worlds Fair and learning of the telephone, brought it back to Eureka making it one of the earliest cities, to be fully serviced by phones.
