Since 1973, the event commemorates Independence, Missouri as the starting point of the great westward expansion of the United States. The three main trails to the West - the Santa Fe, California and Oregon Trails - originated from Independence. Features nine huge craft tents filled with juried arts and crafts vendors. Over 500 commercial food and game booths, of which 50 are sponsored by Independence non-profit organizations, three entertainment stages - main stage, community stage and gospel stage, a large carnival midway and an authentic 1800's trappers encampment. Takes place at Historic Independence Square, From Lexington to Truman Road, Between Osage and Main Streets.
