John Paul White, a member of the Grammy Award- winning duo The Civil Wars, was recently added to the list of artists for this year’s festival, which also includes Spin Doctors, Bonnie Bishop, North Mississippi All Stars and Muddy Magnolias. White, who lives in Florence with his wife and children, restarted his solo career in 2016 with his new album, “Beulah.” “As always, Zach Baker has gotten exceptional artists for the Foothills Festival in 2017,” said Tana Collins, one of the organizers of the festival. “Many people know and love John Paul White from his days with The Civil Wars. I think he will impress everyone with his solo work. His music is a beautiful, eclectic marriage of folk ballads, Southern rock and acoustic pop. Bonnie Bishop, a singer/songwriter who has experience playing previous Foothills Festivals, will headline the lineup for Friday, Sept. 15. Opening for Bishop that night will be The Wildflowers, a Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers tribute band, at 6 p.m. and Ernie McClinton and Shotgun will take the stage at 7:30 p.m. Bishop will play from 9-10:30 p.m. Spin Doctors are the headline act for Saturday, Sept. 16. The music will begin that day at noon with De’Ja Blue taking the stage. The three Path to the Foothills winners will play beginning at 1:30 p.m., leading into White taking the stage at 4:30 p.m. Muddy Magnolias will perform at 6 p.m., followed by North Mississippi All-Stars at 7:30 p.m. Spin Doctors are set to play from 9 until 10:30 p.m. Music will also be played this year at Restoration Hall, with local artists Griff Waid, Christian Gann and Phil Austin playing from 1:30 until 4:30 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 16.
