School teachers, students, recreational advisers, science classes, and environmentally-friendly people of all kinds make plans to join us at the Montgomery Zoo for Earth Day Safari. Celebrate our planet while learning how each of us play a vital role in our environment and the earth’s wildlife. Young or old, it is never too early or late to start making an impact on our planet. Earth Day Safari is an event designed with elementary-aged school groups in mind. Students and teachers roam the zoo exploring realm after realm collecting valuable information using a fun and educational Earth Day Scavenger Hunt. As they answer questions, their passport is stamped at five different realm stations earning points to win a prize when completed. Along the way, students are encouraged to play various games teaching them how they too play an important role in our planet’s survival and ecological state. Students learn the importance of recycling, preservation and conservation. Guests will also have the opportunity to visit various demonstration tents sponsored by the Alabama Department of Environmental Management (ADEM), Montgomery Clean City Commission, Alabama Forestry, Hyundai Motor Manufacturing Alabama, and Montgomery Museum of Fine Arts. Students will learn various aspects of water treatment, recycling, tree conservation and farming, air pollution and quality, soil management and some nifty, craft making time as a keepsake. While attending Earth Day Safari, guests will be treated to a unique learning experiences with some of our animal care zookeepers. During designated times, guests will gather at specified exhibits and enjoy a keeper talk. The keepers will provide insightful information on the animals’ personalities, diets, and species facts. Also, it is an ideal time to ask questions to discover additional information about each of our animals at the Montgomery Zoo.
