The Museum of the Jewish People at Beit Hatfutsot will hold its “Essen with the Best: A Night to Celebrate All Things Food” gala. Cocktails will begin at 6 pm. Proceeds from the evening – presented by the American Friends of Beit Hatfutsot – will directly support the Museum, which, for over four decades, has been playing an essential role in strengthening Jewish identity and perpetuating Jewish heritage worldwide. The opening of the Museum’s new Core Exhibition in spring 2020, which will include 66,000 square feet of new exhibit space, will feature the largest database of Jewish cuisine in the Culture and Identity Wing, reflecting the importance of food as an integral part of the personal identities and social fabric of the Jewish people. The gala will honor noted Jewish cookbook author and journalist Joan Nathan, who will curate the evening’s meal. The event will also include remarks by acclaimed chef and restaurateur Michael Solomonov. The gala will also include a silent auction featuring items from a superb variety of restaurants, wineries and distilleries in both the U.S. and Israel.
