Since 1985, the Festival features more than 200 vendors and entertainment groups on eight city blocks. Takes place on Franklin Street between 7th and 12th Streets and 8th and 9th Streets on Broadway to Harrison Street. Every year small businesses and community organizations from all over California come to showcase a myriad of delicious foods, unique Asian products, and special services. There will be arts and crafts, entertainment on two stages, and a Cultural Village presented by the Oakland Asian Cultural Center. The highlight of the festival remains its entertainment, and there will be no shortage of it at the Chinatown StreetFest. The Cultural Stage will feature a variety of diverse Asian ethnic acts, such as Chinese lion dances, Japanese taiko drumming, Chinese cultural musical performances, Tahitian dances and much more. Over at the Popular Stage, festival goers will be able to enjoy rock, jazz and RandB performances from some of the Bay Area's finest bands. Whatever the performance, StreetFest explorers will either be kept in awe or will be dancing in the streets. Many attractions at the StreetFest will also be targeted just for families and children. There will be a youth area featuring carnival rides, petting zoos, giant slides, dunking booths, and lots of other activities. At the StreetFest Cultural Village, both young and old enjoy hands on instruction and activities such as calligraphy, origami, and face painting.
